Milton Keynes Council is committed to developing a Prospectus for Central Bletchley (which includes the Sherwood Drive/Buckingham Road area) by February 2020.
Working to that end, it is now undertaking a 6-week period of focussed engagement on the Draft Central Bletchley Prospectus – 30 09 19-compressed. That period of engagement commenced on Monday, 30 September 2019 and will close on Sunday, 10 November 2019.
The Prospectus has a marketing focus and seeks to identify and promote some of the once-in-a-generation opportunities for regeneration and redevelopment that will flow from East-West Rail and the town’s enhanced connectivity at the centre of the Cambridge-Milton Keynes-Oxford Arc.
The Prospectus is not intended to be a formal planning policy document and will not create planning policy for Central Bletchley, carry ‘weight’ in terms of determining planning applications, nor will it constitute a ‘masterplan’ for future development. The purpose of this engagement exercise is to gauge whether the Draft version of the Central Bletchley Prospectus adequately captures the important opportunities, key challenges and place-making themes informed by previous stakeholder engagement, which included BPARA input, undertaken between November 2017 – March 2019.
To assist with the current engagement process, a ‘drop-in’ event is being held at Bletchley Library, between 2-5 p.m., on 9 October 2019 when members of the team that have produced the document will be on hand to discuss any issues and to answer questions that you may have.
Following publication of the Central Bletchley Prospectus, the intention is to proceed with the production of an Urban Design Framework, or similar, which will be adopted as a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD). That would then become a formal planning policy document and a ‘material consideration’ in the determination of planning applications submitted to the Council in relation to the Central Bletchley area. The SPD will, necessarily, be shaped by comprehensive community and stakeholder involvement during its development.
