Dear Sirs,
Reference: APP/Y0435/A/11/2164977/NWF Appeal by Taylor Wimpey/Bellcross Homes against refusal for demolition of existing canteen facility and erection of 6 no. dwellings with garages at Bletchley Park, Wilton Avenue, Bletchley, MK3 6EB
The above Residents’ Association supports the refusal of the above planning application by Milton Keynes Council, on the following grounds:
- The canteen buildings are some of the few remnants of the wartime Bletchley Park outside the area now managed by the Bletchley Park Trust. As they are in the Bletchley Conservation Area, they should be retained as important examples of buildings supporting the domestic needs of the wartime workers in the Park.
- Taylor Wimpey/Bellcross Homes have not properly explored the possibility of development which could save some, if not all, of these historic buildings.
- During the years that they have owned the site, the developers have not properly protected the buildings, which have therefore suffered considerable damage from vandalism and arson. This neglect exemplifies their total disregard for the ambience of a most important national monument – Bletchley Park.
Please take these points into consideration when making your decision.
Yours faithfully,
Mrs C.R. Simpson, Hon. Secretary, BPARA
