BPARA’s request to West Bletchley Council (WBC) to set up a Parking Sub-Committee to consider the numerous parking issues within West Bletchley was approved at the Full Council meeting on 20 August – thank you to members who came along to support us! Terms of reference and composition of the committee to be decided.
The issues that BPARA wish to be considered are as follows:
• Parking enforcement and use of funds from parking penalty charges. MK Council Parking Factsheet states there is a legal requirement for funds to be used for enforcement operations and transport projects – this may not be the case!
• Commuter parking to include follow up action to 15 Minute Survey which only tackled part of the problem
• Use of an existing car park as depot for East/West rail project
• Sherwood Drive – MK Council’s latest proposal which contradicts the proposals set out in the 15 Minute Parking Survey, plus any measures necessary as & when the Institute of Technology opens in Block D of Bletchley Park
• Lack of suitable provision for College students, patrons of Eight Belles & Pasha restaurant, plus Wilton Hall if preserved
• Lack of adequate parking provision for those attending St Mary’s Church & Rectory Cottages – parking area believed to be owned by the Crematorium not always accessible. Use of 3 off-road parking spaces in approach to St Mary’s Church by commuters as not covered by existing parking restriction relating to the road itself
• Individual parking issues in areas such as Roche Gardens
• Parking pick up points for school children
• Parking matters in parts of West Bletchley outside the BPARA area
• Interaction with Bletchley & Fenny Stratford Town Council re parking in the Central Bletchley area which falls under Bletchley Park Ward of MK Council
• Interaction with Community Forums and Thames Valley Police
• Future parking provision – advent of East/West Rail with Bletchley as focal point of Oxford/Cambridge/MK corridor, any Central Bletchley Regeneration activity & West Bletchley Neighbourhood Plan
