MK Council is preparing a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) for Central Bletchley, which will contain guidance for new development in the area covering most of Bletchley town centre as well as Sherwood Drive/Buckingham Road. The SPD is being prepared by the Council’s Urban Design and Landscape Architecture Team and from now until the end of September residents and organisations who have an interest are invited to get involved and give their views to help inform the SPD’s content and future direction of the area.
An interactive website: www.centralbletchleyspd.com has been launched where you can contribute your ideas and add your comments to a map of the area. This initial period of informal engagement will run until the end of September with the SPD then being drafted from October to December. Formal consultation on the draft SPD is planned to take place in early 2022.
The SPD will help to inform the business cases currently being prepared for several of the Bletchley & Fenny Stratford Town Deal projects. It also has the potential to contribute to the work of Bletchley and Fenny Stratford Town Council (B&FSTC) on their Neighbourhood Plan – West Bletchley Council already has a Neighbourhood Plan. An important piece of evidence for the SPD is a Transport and Parking Strategy being prepared by consultants, City Science, with which BPARA is involved.
On Thursday 5th August from 11am-2pm, there will be a pop-up stall in Queensway outside the old Town Council offices with information about the SPD, the B&FSTC Neighbourhood Plan and the Town Deal and provide the opportunity for local people to ask questions and find out more about future plans for Bletchley.
