As previously reported, BPARA has advocated that the derelict Cricket Pavilion site on the corner of Buckingham Road/Sherwood Drive should be developed as a public green space with a memorial to Alan Turing. Whilst supportive of a memorial, neither MK City Council (MKCC) or The Town Deal Board has been willing to purchase this site which is privately owned.
However, BPARA met MKCC representatives on 30 November and they advised that MKCC has now set up a project to celebrate the Bletchley Park and Alan Turing legacies in a fresh, creative and inclusive way and are seeking ‘Community Codebreakers’ to support the development of a brief for this future facing, innovative public celebration. To find out more, there is an informal online meeting on Wednesday, 7 December 2022 at 5pm.
