This post is intended for the 72 BPARA members who failed to receive the BPARA update emailed to members on 28 October. BPARA became aware after receiving the following message from Microsoft:
” Your message couldn’t be delivered. Despite repeated attempts to contact the recipient’s email system it didn’t respond. Contact the recipient by some other means (by phone, for example) and ask them to tell their email admin that it appears that their email system isn’t accepting connection requests from your email system. Give them the error details shown below. It’s likely that the recipient’s email admin is the only one who can fix this problem. Following investigation, BPARA’s IT support team has now confirmed the Microsoft message is authentic, and the likely reason for the delivery failure is due to the mail filters of the recipients’ mailboxes treating the BPARA email as spam, and has blocked delivery. However, the email contained 3 links plus an attachment which may have contributed to the problem. Google may also have reacted in the same way and blocked delivery – delivery to to the rest of BPARA members was not impacted.

Global AI Safety Summit at Bletchley Park
As you must be aware, the first AI Safety Summit, hosted by the UK Government takes place on 1 and 2 November, and Bletchley Park is closed from 28 October (today), re-opening on 6 November. The Bletchley Park Trust has also completed its biggest refurbishment project to date – a £13 million, three-phase project, to open up wartime buildings at the heart of the site for the very first time. The Fellowship Auditorium will be used for the AI Safety Summit. However, residents in Wilton Avenue, Welchman Court and Tiltman Lane who are most impacted by the Summit, had the opportunity to sit in here when they attended a briefing about this event last week – one of those in charge of security told them that he had also overseen the Queen’s funeral and the King’s coronation!
Former Police/Fire Station Site
If you pass this site in Sherwood Drive next to the rail station, you will see images of the Town Deal information hoardings that have been erected, fortunately in time for the AI Summit next week! There will be further hoardings installed in Central Bletchley, including the former Sainsbury Supermarket site which will be demolished in early 2024 – the building contains asbestos and is the focus for anti-social behaviour. As you may recall, Town Deal monies funded the demolition of the Fire Station, and there is now an application to demolish the former Police Station. This was reported by MK Citizen – see link below.
However, from the Police/Fire Station Site Development Brief last year, and to comply with the West Bletchley Neighbourhood Plan, BPARA’s understanding was that there would be residential led mixed development. Ahead of the next Board meeting on 6 November, the BPARA Chair has queried the accuracy of this headline with MKCC. It may be that MK Citizen has again been a bit liberal in their reporting!
