Proposed development at Salden Park, Milton Keynes, MK17 0EG
You may recall that BPARA, West Bletchley and other councils have opposed the proposed development on the site formerly known as Salden Chase for many years. The name of the site is now Salden Park and is in the former Vale of Aylesbury, now part of Buckinghamshire Council, which eventually approved the development. BPARA is still a member of the West Bletchley Salden Chase Sub-Committee which will be looking at the latest plans.
The basis for opposing this development was on the grounds of “I before E ” – Infrastructure before Expansion. The site adjoins Racecourses estate, but is outside the MKCC boundary:
1. MKCC would not receive any planning gain or council tax income – this would go to Bucks CC.
2. Salden Chase residents would use the services and facilities in nearby MK – GP services, schools, MK Hospital etc. to name a few.
3. The additional volume of traffic would add to the congestion on roads in and around Bletchley.
On Thursday 19th October, Taylor Wimpey will be hosting a public exhibition event to give local people the chance to view and comment on plans for new homes in Salden Park – this is the first phase, 526 of 1,795 new homes in Salden Park. The development is due to include employment land, a local centre, a primary and secondary school, and large public open space. This event will take place at Longueville Hall, Whaddon Road, Milton Keynes, MK17 0AT between 3pm and 8pm on Thursday 19th October.
