Chris Simpson, Life President, passed away after a short illness at Willen Hospice on Saturday, 9 March.
Chris was a Co-Founder of BPARA which held its Inaugural Meeting on 26 April 1990 at the Bletchley Grammar School. Seventy-five people attended the meeting to support the formation/preservation of the Bletchley Park Museum which was in danger of being demolished. Fortunately, this was not the case and Bletchley Park is now an award winning heritage attraction, although the Grammar School did not survive! In its 34th year, BPARA continues the good work started by Chris and others in 1990.
Chris was the mainstay of BPARA, acting as Secretary from 1990 to 2000, and from 2009 to 2013, and was Chair from 2000 to 2009 (see photo below). During this time, she championed many causes, was an active member of the Bletchley Development Board and was often interviewed by the media. She also spent many years helping others via the Citizens Advice Bureau, and planting trees such as the one for HM Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee at Bletchley Park in 2012.
Chris continued to support BPARA and maintained an interest in Bletchley matters, even after she moved to Newport Pagnell.
