Message from Newton Longville Parish Council who are holding a Public Meeting at 7pm on Friday 6 June at the Free Church, 2 Bletchley Road, Newton Longville MK17 0AX, followed by Extraordinary Parish Council Meeting at 7.30pm.
Outline planning permission was given for the gas injection facility at the SGN depot off Bletchley Road three years ago. That permission should be considered to have lapsed as construction had not started within the three-year period (our understanding is that the work that has commenced is outside of the development that had been applied for and approved by Buckinghamshire Council). There has however been an application for a Certificate of Lawfulness (25/01626/CPE) claiming that that development has (lawfully) commenced and therefore the permission granted in 2022 should not be considered to have expired.
On Friday 6 June the Parish Council will be meeting at 7.30pm to make a decision whether to seek legal advice, leading to a formal, solicitor’s letter being submitted to Buckinghamshire Council. This letter will make it clear that it would be inappropriate to issue the Certificate. The estimated cost for this is £1,000. There have been significant local objections to this development from residents in Bletchley as well as from the village (in addition to the facility itself, there would be large HGVs transiting through our parish carrying the biogas into the depot and bringing the empty tanks out). In order to get the views of the village on whether we should proceed down the legal route, the formal Parish Council meeting at 7.30pm will be preceded by a public meeting commencing at 7pm. We would welcome your views at that meeting (or expressed via email before the day to office@newtonlongville.gov.uk).
