BPARA has now joined a local Speedwatch Group, originally set up by Water Eaton Residents Association, but which now includes residents living in Fenny Stratford. BPARA will now share their equipment and receive support from their Speedwatch Group members – you do not have to be member of a residents’ association to take part.
- Online training (about 30 minutes) is required – topics are in an easy-to-understand eLearning format with quiz at the end (can be retaken until all questions answered correctly). If you do not have internet access, BPARA can facilitate this for you and assist you with the training.
- Speeding drivers are identified and contacted, initially with a letter explaining risks and consequences of dangerous behaviour.
- Repeat offenders are visited by the police, irrespective of where they live, as Community Speedwatch (CSW) Online operates nationally, with enforcement and criminal prosecution for persistent offenders.
- Speedwatch areas are agreed with the police, and sessions arranged to suit the Speedwatch group – maybe 1- 2 hours, usually once per month, weather conditions permitting!
