Project Queensway
- Work is progressing with the improvements to Queensway and the furniture and materials have been finalised.
- There will be a Parking Rule Change for Queensway as research has shown that most people stop for short visits, typically less than 30 minutes. When the Queensway public realm project is complete, parking along the high street will be limited to a maximum stay of 30 minutes, with no return within one hour. These changes are designed to support quick visits, increase parking bay turnover, and help keep Queensway welcoming and accessible for everyone.
- All other parking rules in the town centre will remain unchanged.
- Did you know there are 17 publicly accessible car parks in and around Bletchley and Fenny Stratford, with more than two‑thirds of these spaces completely free of charge? Compared with similar‑sized towns nearby such as Leighton Buzzard, Buckingham and Dunstable, Bletchley offers significantly more free options.
The Transport Hub (Saxon Street) – there will be 4 phases
- In the spring, the installation of three new signalised crossings – two on Princes Way and one on Albert Street.
- Sherwood Drive Roundabout improvements to widen all 4 exits to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion across the local road network.
- Saxon Street. Network Rail (NWR) will be replacing the bridge over Saxon Street. MKCC are working with NWR to explore opportunities to align the projects, helping to minimise disruption for residents, businesses, and road users during construction.
- Bus station upgrade.
Other News
MKCC has secured nearly £3 million to improve Bletchley Leisure Centre, Woughton Leisure Centre and Windmill Hill Golf Centre through a new long‑term partnership with Serco Leisure and More Leisure Community Trust. A new outdoor Splash Pad is planned for Bletchley Leisure Centre, along with a replacement car park lift.
