Works to improve the Sherwood Drive roundabout
- Due to begin in November as part of Phase 2 of the Saxon Street (Transport Hub) project.
- Improvements will increase the junction’s capacity, helping to reduce congestion and improve journey times through the central Bletchley main road network – particularly during peak travel times.
- New and improved pedestrian crossings will also make it easier and safer for people travelling between the station, Bletchley Park, Milton Keynes College, and Queensway.
- To minimise disruption, work will be carried out in phases.
- Traffic management arrangements are being designed to ensure that only one direction of travel on Buckingham Road is affected at any one time, with diversion routes signposted.
- While some delays are inevitable during construction, the phased approach has been chosen to help keep Bletchley open for business and reduce the risk of congestion.
Public Realm Improvement project for Queensway – now entering final phase.
- New paving, landscaping, and lighting are now in place.
- Stanier Square is the final phase with new paving, street furniture, and lighting, including projectors for use at community events – in time for the Town Council’s Christmas event.
- To protect the new paving from heavy machinery during the demolition of the Brunel Centre in the new year, work on a small section of the square will be paused temporarily and completed at a later date. The Brunel Centre (last unit closes this week) and Wilco to be demolished in Q1 of 2027.
Supporting local businesses
- The Town Deal team are working with a local film company, on a new promotional campaign to showcase independent businesses.
- Five local businesses that have been trading for many years on Queensway and Aylesbury Street will feature in a series of short films showcasing the people and entrepreneurship that contribute to the local economy.
- The campaign aims to encourage more residents and visitors to shop locally and support the businesses that help our town centres thrive. The videos will be launched to coincide with Small Business Saturday on 5 December 2026
