Following MK Council’s refusal of planning permission for the demolition of Wilton Hall and the erection of 6 detached dwellings, West Bletchley Council (WBC) submitted an application to MK Council to have Wilton Hall listed as an Asset of Community Value (ACV). The basis for this application was, with the publication of the Central Bletchley Prospectus and the regeneration linked to the forthcoming East West Rail to Bletchley, with the right marketing and management, a sustainable future for the building could be achieved.
MK Council’s officers assessment concluded that, without further evidence or the business plan detail, it was did not meet the necessary criteria to list this asset as an Asset of Community Value and this was confirmed by Cllr Pete Marland, MK Council Leader, on 24 March 2020.However, the owners did indicate in discussion with MK Council that they would be open to discussions with WBC about the future of the building. This decision was reported in the local press which has brought forward one interested party who would like to explore options with the owners about taking on a lease of the building to run. WBC will take up the offer to discuss the future of the building with the owners.
