The consultation on the Draft Parking Standards Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) (2022) by MK Council closed on 5 October and BPARA objected via 2 submissions
Parking Standards SPD Consultation Response form section 1 & Parking Standards SPD Consultation Response form section 4
If adopted, the revised Standard would result in the Central Bletchley area, which includes Sherwood Drive, being classed as Zone 2, whilst the rest of Bletchley and Fenny Stratford would be Zone 3.
Under Zone 2, the parking provision for future new developments, (and possibly those where the planning application process has not been completed) would be reduced. As stated in the section 1 submission, “There is already serious lack of parking provision in the Sherwood Drive/Buckingham Road area of West Bletchley. There are more complaints about, and dissatisfaction with parking than any other issue as recorded when the West Bletchley Council Neighbourhood Plan was produced. There is insufficient parking enforcement available from MKC to deal with parking infringements…. without wishing to appear cynical, BPARA believes that the new Zone 2 designation will enable more densely populated residential development in the Central Bletchley/Sherwood Drive area”.
This change is also opposed by West Bletchley Council – a summary of the impact on our area is in the report of the Council’s Deputy Clerk on pages 20 and 21 of the Agenda for the 4 October meeting of the Environmental Committee. https://www.westbletchleycouncil.gov.uk/committees/planning-environment-committee-meetings
