As parking and the proposed changes to Saxon Street are contentious issues for many of our members, BPARA held a meeting on Thursday 28th August from 6.30pm to 8pm in the Auditorium at Bletchley Park – the same venue as for BPARA annual meetings, and the location for the Government’s AI Safety Summit in November 2023. 78 members and visitors attended the meeting which produced lively discussion. West Bletchley On-Street Parking Study
The study covers Sherwood Drive, Whalley Drive, Church Green Road, Rickley Lane and all roads leading off these roads, plus parts of the Poets estate and Craigmore Avenue.
This extensive study includes weekday parking experience by potential commuters on these roads and at the rail station, plus sports fans on MK Dons matchdays – West Bletchley Parking Study – Initial Results_ISSUED
The results and proposals were due to be presented by an MKCC Highways Officer. He advised at short notice that he was unable to attend, and Sam Lennon and the BPARA Chair covered his presentation – BPARA Parking Options Presentation Aug 2025
The options will be subsequently published via a consultation process – MKCC’s preferred option is a resident parking permit scheme. The MKCC Officer has prepared W Bletchley parking options FAQs which will be part of the consultation process and BPARA collated questions on this topic and other matters at the meeting. BPARA QA’s
20MPH/Speed restrictions and Community Speedwatch
One way to identify motorists who exceed speed limits is to set up a Community Speedwatch scheme. Other residents associations in the Bletchley/Fenny Stratford area already have a scheme which BPARA can join. The BPARA Chair appealed for volunteers in the meeting and two members expressed interest in taking part – volunteers do not have to be BPARA members.
